“Health is the greatest gift, contentment the greatest wealth, faithfulness the best relationship.” – Gautama Buddha

Wow, three very powerful statements in one – and a useful reminder of what’s of greater importance in life. Let’s take each one and provoke some motivational thought.

Health – this can be physical but also mental, spiritual, emotional. Without it, we may encounter pain. So, looking after your health is the greatest gift you can give yourself. Others also benefit – for a healthy heart is capable of loving more than any of us can realise and the impact that can have is incalculable. Try it and see ❤️……

Contentment – to me this suggests the idea of being satisfied with your achievements, not being greedy! It reminds me of one of the wisest things I ever heard, from an old Irish lady in Liverpool, “Enough is plenty!” That’s such a great measure of happiness and ensures there’s more to go around for others. Spread the joy, don’t hoard it ……

Faithfulness – naturally, this means different things to different people; adherence to your spiritual belief system, or loyalty of many sorts – to partners, friends, colleagues, football teams, countries, or even to yourself! That last one, being faithful to oneself, is the surest way to maintain a healthy relationship with oneself, to which others will respond well……

Combine all three and you have one heck of a human soul, capable of spreading more love, wealth and trust than you could ever measure on any scale.

Now, who wouldn’t want to achieve that?!

Which of these areas needs the most attention in your life today? How can you be kinder to your health, reassess your definition of wealth and be more in tune with all relationships?

Love and light,

Jim Sharman
