“Peace cannot be kept by force, it can only be kept by understanding.” – Albert Einstein

Here’s a short one today and it will be about understanding and where it leads to, on two levels. Here’s the first:

It can be painful to be misunderstood at times and it can be tempting to blame others for misunderstanding us. Yet there’s a wonderful learning opportunity to be had in that experience; understanding first ourselves – why we say or do the things we do at times, which can lead to others misunderstanding us. In that case, peace is arrived at within.

The second is about the joys and benefits of arriving at points of understanding with others.

When we achieve this, sometimes as a result of learning the lessons from the above, we can reach a level of intimacy previously unavailable. I’m not talking about the smoochy, romantic intimacy but the soul-level one, where each other’s pains and pleasures (again, not that kind of pleasure!) are appreciated and even shared. In that case, peace is arrived at together.

Whichever level of understanding we’re reaching, it’s not something we can force – we need to cooperate with each other, sure, yet we also need to be aware of what’s going on inside.

After reading this, is there a level of peace you are longing for with someone who either is misunderstood by you or you sense you are misunderstood by? Can you reach out today, seek a positive outcome and achieve peace together?

Love and light,

Jim Sharman
