“Treat everyone you meet as though they’re the most important person you’ll meet that day!” – Roger Dawson

One of the key aims of the Daily Sharman reflections is to spread positivity through the world and to motivate others to do the same.

By following Dawson’s advice, you’d be doing exactly that.

It’s an invitation and an opportunity to openly appreciate someone’s intrinsic or extrinsic value (here’s a secret by the way, everyone has it!) and also, if you don’t immediately see theirs, it’s the perfect time to dig a bit deeper and discover what it is – and then openly appreciate it……

The chances are that they will do the same for you – just remember, it’s not an exchange! This exercise is not a zero-sum game; it’s about outward expressions offered freely, without expectation of reciprocation. Just do it because you can.

What you cannot do is predict the impact it can have on someone, the difference it might make to not just their day but their life, especially if that person is carrying some wounding around feeling unappreciated, unimportant or invisible. You could be the one that helps them break through that feeling and elevates their esteem, making a lasting positive impression that feeds a self-sustaining change and improvement in their life.

It sounds easy, right? Because it is. You just have to choose.

Whom can you treat this way today? Well, everyone – but maybe you can start with someone you know deep down you’ve been neglecting somewhat, or punishing for some reason or other? Try kindness instead today, by reaching out and letting them know you value their importance and their relevance.

Love and light,

Jim Sharman
